Accredited Competency Training Courses

KOR Services

In high-risk operational environments, it’s not just the machinery that determines performance, it’s the competence of the people using it. Skilled operators are essential to safety, efficiency and compliance. Yet many organisations still rely on informal or outdated training, leaving both their teams and business at risk.

KOR has supported operations across Australia and New Zealand since 2011. We’ve seen how preventable incidents, unnecessary equipment downtime and rising compliance pressure often come down to one issue: unstructured or non-accredited training. That’s why we created KOR Academy, delivering nationally recognised competency training in partnership with Trainright (RTO 45777).

This training isn’t theoretical. It’s job-specific, audit-ready, and designed to keep your operations running, safely and with compliance.

Why unstructured training is a growing operational risk

Across civil, industrial and utilities sectors, pressure is increasing to ensure operators are properly trained. Standards like AS4233:2013 Parts 1 and 2 High Pressure Water Jetting Systems and Safework Australia’s ‘Guide for managing risks from high pressure water jetting’ are no longer optional.

Many organisations still rely on informal instruction or legacy in-house methods that fall short of compliance. These gaps can create serious risks such as:

  • Operators exceeding safe pressure thresholds.
  • Mismanaged vacuum loading, resulting in equipment damage.
  • Hydro excavation conducted without full awareness of all hazards.
  • Missed refresher cycles, leading to expired qualifications.

How KOR Academy delivers training that fits real operations

KOR Academy provides Nationally Accredited Competency Training under the guidance of Trainright (RTO 45777). Every course results in a formal Statement of Attainment, recognised across industries. Our blended model is designed for operational environments:

  • Online theory modules let operators complete learning at their own pace, with minimal downtime.
  • Onsite practical assessments are conducted at your location, using your equipment.
  • Small class sizes (up to 10 participants) ensure engagement and relevance.

Importantly, the training is context-specific. Whether your team works in shutdown maintenance, demolition, drain cleaning or non-destructive digging (NDD), the course is tailored to their real-world tasks. Available accredited courses include:

  • MSMSS00017 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment (under supervision)
  • MSMSS00018 – Operate a high pressure water jetting system
  • MSMSS00019 – Operate a drain cleaning system
  • MSMSS00020 – Operate a vacuum loading system
  • MSMSS00021 – Operate a hydro excavation system
  • Refresher courses – Required at least every two years under AS4233:2013 Parts 1 and 2  for High Pressure Water Jetting Systems

This format reduces training disruption and ensures operators retain knowledge that applies directly to their roles.

Addressing the common concerns

We understand why some businesses are hesitant to implement formal training. That’s why we’ve designed our program to eliminate those barriers.

Statement How KOR Academy addresses it
“We train internally” Internal programs often lack accreditation or may not  meet Australian standards. KOR delivers nationally recognised qualifications.
“We can’t afford the downtime” Online theory and onsite assessments mean operators stay on-site and on-task.
“We’ve managed fine so far” Standards have evolved. Compliance expectations are stricter, and liabilities for organisations with untrained staff are increasing.
“It sounds expensive” Accredited training reduces incidents, minimises equipment wear, and protects against compliance costs. It pays for itself.

Operational value of accredited training

Compliance is just the starting point. Accredited training strengthens every layer of your operation.

  • Safety: Skilled operators reduce the likelihood of accidents and near misses.
  • Efficiency: Training reduces errors, improves task speed and extends equipment life.
  • Workforce retention: Confident, qualified staff are more engaged and loyal.
  • Audit readiness: Statements of Attainment keep your records clean and inspection-ready.
  • Cost control: Less downtime, fewer repairs, reduced rework.
  • Reputation: Clients and regulators recognise the value of formally trained crews.

By investing in training, you’re also building a culture of professionalism and accountability, two qualities that are increasingly critical in winning and retaining work.
